Little Voyages does not require an account and operates no server that stores your goals or entries. Your family's voyages live on your device. There is no analytics, no advertising and no network use of the app's own — the App Store nutrition label is Data Not Collected. This summary does not replace the details below.
1. Who we are
Little Voyages is published by M-PAX Group. For privacy enquiries, contact [email protected].
2. Overview & scope
This policy describes how Little Voyages handles information when you use the iOS/iPadOS app and when you visit this website. The app is local-first: every feature — story setup, saving and spending, parent approvals, trophy shelf, export and import — works without a Little Voyages backend, because there isn't one.
We do not make claims such as “nothing ever leaves your device” without qualification: where a destination is one you choose yourself (an export file you share, or an iCloud device backup you enable), it is disclosed here. The in-app About wording, if present in your build, should always be treated as the authoritative description for the shipped build.
3. Information Little Voyages processes
Little Voyages processes only what is needed to run your family's voyages, and only on your device:
| Category | Examples | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Goal definitions | Chosen story (Pirate / Space / Magic), treasure title, target amount in whole pounds | Show the voyage, the route and the progress line |
| Saving & spending entries | Amounts, reasons, approval status, parent notes on rejections | Move the ship along the route; keep the money trail |
| Trophies | Finished goal titles, amounts, stories, finish dates | Fill the Trophy Shelf |
| Preferences | Sound preference (off by default), onboarding progress | Remember your settings |
Little Voyages does not collect your name, your child's name, email address, location, contacts, photos, browsing history, or identifiers for advertising. There is no analytics SDK and no crash-reporting SDK sending data to a developer server.
4. On-device storage
Voyages are stored as app data on your iPhone or iPad (a local SwiftData store plus the app's local settings). If you use iCloud device backups, Apple's backup may include the app container under Apple's terms — Little Voyages itself uploads nothing anywhere.
All artwork and fonts used by the app are bundled with the app; they are not fetched from the network.
5. No account required
Little Voyages does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide an email address. There is no Little Voyages-hosted profile containing your family's goals. The launch-list email on this website is entirely separate: it is a plain email you choose to send us when the app hasn't shipped yet, and it is never linked to any in-app data (which we cannot see).
6. Parent gate (device authentication)
Parent View and goal finishing are protected by your device's own lock — Face ID, Touch ID or device passcode — requested fresh every time, with no grace period:
- The app stores no PIN, password or secret of its own. Authentication is performed by the device; the app only learns whether it succeeded.
- A cancelled or failed check leaves the gate closed — Parent View does not open and the finish is not confirmed (fail-closed).
- If your device has no passcode set, parent areas explain that a passcode is needed first. There is no bypass.
Because nothing parental is stored, there is nothing parental to leak, export or delete. Approval notes you write on rejections are stored as part of the entry (see §3) so your child can read them.
7. Notifications & reminders
Little Voyages does not use notifications. There are no reminders, no scheduled alerts and no badge counts. Nothing in the app can message you or your child.
8. Purchases & advertising
Little Voyages contains no in-app purchases, no subscriptions and no advertising. There is nothing to buy inside the app, and nothing measures your family for advertisers. Payment, if any, is only the App Store download itself, handled entirely by Apple under Apple's Standard EULA and Apple's privacy policy.
9. Export & import
Export creates a JSON file (an open, documented format) containing your goals, entries, stars and trophies. Import reads such a file back. Both are free, and both are user-initiated: nothing is exported unless you tap it.
- Where the file goes is your choice — the share sheet, Files, AirDrop, email. Once you send it somewhere, that destination's policy applies.
- The format is plain JSON you can inspect in any text editor before sharing it.
- The export never contains any parent-gate credential, because none exists (see §6).
10. Third-party services & website
Apple platform services
Little Voyages uses Apple frameworks only: SwiftUI, SwiftData and LocalAuthentication (for the parent gate described in §6). Their use is subject to Apple's privacy policy and your device settings.
This website
This launch site is a static page. It has no analytics of its own; the GitHub Pages host may log routine technical data (such as IP addresses) under its own policy. The “launch list” link opens your own email app addressed to us — nothing is submitted or tracked on the page.
11. Data sharing
We share nothing because we receive nothing. There are no third-party SDKs in the app that could receive your family's data, and we have no server that could disclose it.
The only ways data leaves the app are the ones you initiate: an export file you choose to share (§9), or an iCloud device backup you enable (§4). If you email us for support, we use what you send only to help you.
12. Retention & deletion
Your voyages remain on your device until you delete them or delete the app. Deleting the app removes its on-device store. Exports you created live wherever you put them — delete them there.
Emails you send us (launch list, support) are kept only as long as needed to respond and administer the request.
13. Legal bases (UK / EEA)
Because Little Voyages processes family data only on your device and transmits nothing to us, we do not carry out processing that would require a legal basis on our side. To the extent any handling applies (for example, replying to an email you send us), we rely on:
- Consent — when you ask us to do something (join the launch list, answer a support question).
- Legitimate interests — running a private, offline-first app and responding to enquiries, balanced against your interests given that nothing is collected silently.
14. Children
Little Voyages is designed for children saving with a parent's involvement — and it is designed so that design choice creates no privacy risk:
- The app collects no personal data from children or adults — no names, no accounts, no identifiers (see §3).
- Every Save and Spend a child logs waits for a parent's approval inside Parent View, which is itself behind the device lock (§6).
- There is no chat, no friend list, no user-generated content shared with anyone, and no way for strangers to contact your child through the app. The only words in the app are the ones your family types.
- Parents exercise control simply by holding the device: approvals, goal changes, exports and deletion all happen on-device, in your hands.
If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email (for example, in a support message), contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it promptly.
15. Your rights
Because your family's data lives only on your device, you can directly access, correct and delete it at any time in the app (goal price, entry approvals, export, app deletion). For any request about information you have sent us by email, contact [email protected] and we will respond. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or your local supervisory authority.
16. Security
The strongest security is absence: with no account, no server and no network use, there is no database of family savings to breach. On-device, your data is protected by the same device encryption and lock that protects everything else on your iPhone or iPad. Keep a device passcode set — the parent gate depends on it — and keep your device software up to date.
17. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date and version number. Material changes will also be reflected in the app's About wording where applicable. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
